Children and teens looking for something to spotlight their summer might want to check out two free summer theater workshops being offered by the Arts Council of Mississippi County.

The first workshop will be an introduction to acting and is open to kids 7-12 years old.  It’s designed for students who have little or no experience in theater.

Participants must be able to read well enough to perform unassisted using an unfamiliar script or text.

Story by Regina Bowman, Arkansas State University

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s traveling exhibition, “Deadly Medicine: Creating the Master Race,” will premiere on Thursday, April 25, at the Dean B. Ellis Library at Arkansas State University. The exhibit will run through June 16.

“Deadly Medicine: Creating the Master Race” examines how the Nazi leadership, in collaboration with individuals in professions traditionally charged with healing and the public good, used science to help legitimize persecution, murder and, ultimately, genocide.

Relive life on the St. Francis River

Relive life on the St. Francis River

The St. Francis River has been an important part of the history at Parkin Archeological State Park and eastern Arkansas.

On Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. you're invited to the first St. Francis River Day event at Parkin Archeological State Park.

From small canoes to large steamboats the river has long been used as a means of transportation. A replica 40-foot keelboat will be on hand to show how many of the early settlers first came to the region.
