Memorial concert, silent auction to benefit Literacy Council | Arts & Culture
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
Alex Johnson of Blytheville loved the arts, education and helping others.
In October of 2009, he was killed in a car crash while traveling home from his college choir class.
He was just 22 years old.
To honor his memory, his mother Denise Johnson is coordinating a benefit concert, artists' reception and silent art auction to benefit the Misssissippi County Literacy Council.
The event will take place on Saturday, September 17, at the Ritz Civic Center.
Several local and professional artists have donated several pieces for the silent auction, which will run from 4 until 7 p.m. in the civic center's gallery.
The concert will follow at 7 p.m. featuring performances by Lincoln Layne, JoJo Jefferies and The Reba Russell Band.
Tickets for the concert are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. They can be purchased at the Ritz Civic Center, the Osceola and Blytheville public libraries and the Mississippi County Literacy Council.
For more information contact the Mississippi County Literacy Council at (870) 763-0032.
