MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) – More than 100 FedEx employees were evacuated and decontaminated after a five gallon container of concentrated chili peppers were damaged by a forklift.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. at 2788 Sprankle Avenue, near the airport.

Employees working in the outdoor facility were overcome by the smell after the container of chili peppers was damaged. Once they noticed the smell, they began having trouble breathing.

The concentrated chili peppers are used to make pepper spray.

Out of the 117 people who were decontaminated after the incident, two of them were taken to the hospital with chest pains.

The chemical has been contained and it is no longer a threat.
