Pets of the Week: Carolina and the kitties

Pets of the Week: Carolina and the kitties

If you’re looking for a kitten or a good-hearted dog, you’ll find them at the Blytheville Humane Society.

The Pets of the Week are two of these kittens (the white one on the right has already been adopted).

Also available for adoption is Carolina.  She’s a pug-mix who helped raise these little cuties.

Carolina has been spayed and is house trained.  She and the kittens are up-to-date on their shots.

Pet of the Week: Shayla

Pet of the Week: Shayla

If you’re looking for a warm body to cuddle up with on a cold winter night, then Shayla is the dog for you.

The folks at the Blytheville Humane Society say this brown terrier loves to be held and is a natural-born “couch potato.”

They say she’s an “amazing dog” that plays well with others.  Everyone at the Humane Society loves her “because she is the sweetest.”

Shayla has been spayed and is up to date on her routine shots.  Another added bonus:  she is house-trained.

Pet of the Week: Vinny

Pet of the Week: Vinny

This Thanksgiving, this handsome fellow with the beautiful blue eyes is thankful to be alive.  But he would be even more grateful if he could find a family.

Vinny was found, dirty and covered in soot, in the burned out remains of Abilities Unlimited.

The Blytheville Humane Society took him in and gave him bath, revealing his gorgeous white coat.

They say he’s an extremely affectionate soul who is just waiting for his forever home.

Vinny has been neutered and is up to date on his shots.  He’s also house trained.

What a pretty kitty!

Pricilla is a solid-black cat with the most remarkable orange eyes.  Not only is she pretty, she’s also very sweet and loves to cuddle.

And she needs a home.

In addition to being spayed, Pricilla is up to date on her shots and she’s house trained.

Pricilla is available for adoption at the Blytheville Humane Society.  To learn more about adopting her or another cat or dog, call (870) 838-5512.

The Blytheville Humane Society’s annual Spaghetti Dinner and Auction will be held this Saturday, October 27, at the First Christian Church, 107 N. Sixth St. in Blytheville.

The dinner will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the live auction at 7.

This year the society will also raffle off a Stoeger Model 3500 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun (pictured above with two adorable puppies that are available for adoption).  Tickets for the drawing are $1.  You do not have to be present to win.

Close call for curious cat

Close call for curious cat

This curious kitty got a little more than he bargained for during a recent bird watching expedition.

ELGIN5905 sent these photos of a cat with its head stuck inside a birdhouse hole.

At first, freeing the cat seemed hopeless.  Elgin was afraid if he took off the board, the cat would take off with the board around its neck.

So, he tried to make the hole larger.  He used a zigzag saw, a knife and a pair of cutters.  But, an hour later, the kitty was still stuck.

Help the Humane Society find Pixie

Help the Humane Society find Pixie

The good people at the Blytheville Humane Society are at their wit’s end and they need your help.

On Friday, June 15, one of their dogs was going into foster care when it got away from its handler in the area  of Highways 18 and 312.

Pixie was an abused dog that came to the Humane Society on November 16, 2011.  She is not aggressive.  In fact, she is very shy.  Workers say if you try to approach her, she will run.

Instead of trying to catch her, they ask that you call the Humane Society at (870) 838-5512.
