ASP urges everyone to "Click It or Ticket" this Memorial Day

The Memorial Day holiday weekend is less than two weeks away.

Whether you’re headed to the lake or just across town, the Arkansas State Police Highway Safety Office urges you to buckle up.

Beginning Monday, May 20, state, county and city law enforcement officers will be cracking down on motorists who are not using seat belts as part of the national “Click It or Ticket” campaign.

Colonel Stan Witt, director of the ASP and Governor’s Highway Safety representative, urges everyone to “buckle up on every trip, every time, both day and night—no excuses.”

Enjoy a little fun in the sun this Saturday while watching all sorts of light and experimental air craft fly into Manila.

The inaugural Big Lake Fun-N-Sun Fly-In will start at 7 a.m. tomorrow, May 18, at the Manila Airport.

According to the event organizer, Benny Marr, all sorts of light sport, ultralight, trikes, gyrocopters, gliders, mini helicopters and experimental aircraft have been invited to participate.

He anticipates pilots from at least five states to fly-in.

The 15th Annual Piggott Heritage Park Car Show zooms into town this weekend, May 17-19.

The events begin tonight with a chicken wing dinner followed by karaoke in the Heritage Park amphitheater.

On Saturday morning the Piggott Lions Club will once again serve up a $5 pancake breakfast at the Piggott Community Center.  That afternoon participants will be treated to a pork steak dinner before the cruise to downtown.

The town of Piggott is gearing up for the 15th Annual Piggott Heritage Park Car Show which will be held Friday through Sunday, May 17-19.

The events begin Friday evening with a chicken wing dinner followed by karaoke in the Heritage Park amphitheater.

Annual auto show rolls into Jonesboro this weekend

Rev up your engines and motor your way to the 24th Annual Jonesboro Auto Show.

Presented by the University Heights Lions Club, the show will be held Saturday and Sunday, April 6-7, at the ASU Convocation Center.

In addition to all makes and models of cars and trucks, there will also be a one-of-a-kind carbon fiber Corvette specially built for and autographed by NASCAR driver Mark Martin.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, with the awards ceremony at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Antique bus show rolling into Blytheville

Once again buses will be rolling into Blytheville's historic Greyhound station.

The “Ghosts of Highway 61-Dixie Tour 2013” national antique bus show will be held this Thursday through Satruday, April 4-6, at the former Greyhound Lines Terminal, located at 109 North 5th St.

Event organizer Tom McNally expects 30-50 antique coaches to participate.
